Greetings Jazz fans

I hope you are all enjoying the clement weather that has blessed Manchester over the last week or two.  Whilst I enjoy a barbeque as much as the next person I would ask that you don’t forget us during the summer months and save a little energy for a visit [or 3] to the club in the evening to enjoy some of the fantastic performances we’ve lined up.

During the remainder of June we have our regular array of superb musicians dropping by to entertain and, of course, in July [between the 18th and 27th] there is the brilliant Manchester Jazz Festival.  I’ve listed below a few of the upcoming events which I’m sure you won’t want to miss.  Our website [ www.mattandphreds.com ] and our myspace page [ www.myspace.com/mattandphreds ] are now up to date and have information about all our forthcoming events.  Finally, don’t forget to check out the MJF website at www.manchesterjazz.com for information on the weeks’ programme of music at venues across Manchester.

Other News

During June we will be re-launching our club menus covering food, wine and cocktails.  We’ve been refining our pasta making techniques and are now confident that, in due course, our freshly made pasta will be as renowned as our famous hand made pizzas.  We’ve also added a selection of desserts to the menu in response to overwhelming demand from our guests.  A new wine list is to be launched in the week commencing 16th June and we will be holding a number of tasting sessions for the supports of the club over the next week or two.  Please get in touch with me via email [ dean@mattandphreds.com ] for further information.

We have a number of new additions to the team here.  To help with the development and delivery of our new food menu with have been fortunate to welcome Sam Alexandre back to the club.  Sam left a year ago to travel the world and broaden his culinary skills. Alongside Sam is a colleague of his met during his travels and I’m sure that Ed will prove to be a major asset to the club.

Musicians and guests alike will be pleased to hear that from Wednesday 11th June Paul Forbes will be the clubs’ ‘Music and Events Manager’  with specific responsibility for organising and promoting the very best in jazz music events at Matt and Phred’s.  Paul will ensure that we improve our communications with our guests [including updating the website and sending newsletters] and, importantly, will be the contact for musicians wishing to arrange performances at the club [contact him in the first instance via email on paul@mattandphreds.com ].

Finally

Weekends continue to be very popular and the forthcoming events at the club have already stirred up interest so please get in touch with Andrea [ andrea@mattandphreds.com ] about reservations and ticket enquiries.

As always, I’ll conclude by expressing my continued thanks to all who support the club be it from performing or from visiting us – it really is hugely appreciated.

Best Wishes
Dean and The Team
